The 250+ neighborhoods
A barrio is a single neighborhood, the smallest official unit of the city. Medellín has roughly 250 barrios across its 16 comunas, plus more in the surrounding municipalities of Envigado, Sabaneta, Itagüí, and Bello.
The barrio is what actually matters when you're looking for an apartment. Two barrios in the same comuna can feel completely different: Manila and Provenza are both inside El Poblado, but Manila is quiet and design-led while Provenza is loud, touristy, and full of nightlife.

El Poblado

Manila

Laureles
Flat, walkable, leafy. The favorite alternative to Poblado.

Sabaneta
Village charm + plaza life. Cheaper and growing fast.
