Ciclovía

Sunday & holiday car-free streets

Ciclovía

Every Sunday and public holiday from 7am to 1pm, the city closes major avenues to cars and opens them to bikes, runners, skaters, and dogs. It's called ciclovía, and it's one of the most loved weekly rituals in Medellín.

Key routes run along Avenida Poblado and Avenida Regional. You'll see thousands of people out, it's social, safe, and a great way to see the city without traffic.

There are also ciclovía nocturna nights a couple nights in the week along smaller routes.

Rent a bike from a hostel or use the public EnCicla bike-share (free with registration). More info from INDER Medellín. Helmets are not required for adults, but bring water, the sun is intense even at 9am.
