SIM & internet

Getting connected fast

SIM cards & internet

The three main carriers are Claro, Movistar, and Tigo. Claro has the best coverage, especially outside the city. A prepaid SIM with 15-30 GB of data costs around $30,000-$60,000 COP/month (~$8-15 USD).

You may need your passport to register. Buy at an official store (centro comercial branches are easiest), the kiosks in the airport overcharge. Top up at any OXXO, Éxito, or via the carrier's app.

eSIMs from Holafly work fine and skip the paperwork if you're here short-term. Home fiber internet (Tigo, Claro, ETB) is fast and cheap, 200-500 Mbps for ~$70,000-$120,000 COP/month.

Most cafés and coworking spaces have solid WiFi, especially in Poblado and Laureles.
